Throughout the course of study for GCSE Chemistry, the aim is to help pupils acquire knowledge and a deep conceptual understanding of the different themes surrounding chemistry. This ranges from being able to apply the principles and concepts of chemistry to being able to analyse patterns in data and apply this range of skills and knowledge to unfamiliar scenarios in a logical and informed way.
There are several different areas of Chemistry which require the analysis of data from practical techniques and the ability to use chemical tests to identify the progress of different reactions.
This course of study allows for the sound preparation of pupils for their GCSE examinations and for progression into A Level Chemistry.
Typically, the structure of the exam for each exam board takes the form of 100% examination comprised of two examination papers. There are required practical’s that need to be learned which will appear as questions on the exam papers.
